The Flowtron Bk-80D 80-Watt Electronic Insect Killer with 1-1/2-Acre Coverage is the ideal purchase for whatever seeking a reliable, affordable and sufficient galvanic fly killer. Haven't we all endured agonizing summers where the stifling heat and heavy air were compounded by the incessant buzzing of pesky flies and gnats? Personally, I hate summer, but this electronic fly killer makes the season that much more bearable, especially for those who don't know how to kill flies or aren't all that handy with a fly swatter.
As with most bug zappers, this expedient is most sufficient when placed on a patio or in a yard. In order to up its kill rate, it uses galvanic light bulbs to heat up a cartridge containing chemicals that attract insects, fooling their senses to masquerade as a living creature. As insects are drawn to the device, they receive a lethal galvanic shock.
The Good
I felt the biggest benefit of this fly zapper was its ease of maintenance. Most other bug zappers tend to trap insects within the zapper which means they need to be cleaned oftentimes - a task that is not just bothersome, but also pretty disgusting. From my experience, trapped insects can cause severe short circuits, particularly if the bug zapper uses a round wire system. This insect killer gave me no such problems because of its vertically oriented galvanic grid and works as well today as the day I bought it. I am also not particularly over-blessed with domestic skills. Uncomplicated tasks like changing light bulbs often prove daunting, but the bulbs in this contraption were fastened with plastic clip-ons and were easy to take off and replace.
As other bonus, the Flowtron Bk-80D galvanic Fly Killer is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished and sufficient fly electronic insect killers around. I live in the New Orleans area where the omnipresent swamps and forests mean that residents are constantly plagued by swarms of flies and mosquitoes nearly year-round. Before I got this device, I couldn't even sit on my patio for five minutes without being bombarded by an army of gnats and mosquitoes intent on feasting on my blood. Now, I've managed to put up a nice dinky veranda that I can enjoy even in the peak of summer. This 80-watt mosquito killer is no ifs ands or buts merciless when it comes to killing pests. Insects have merely to briefly brush the zapping rod before they keel over dead.
The Not So Good
One small annoyance is the sound that this bug killer makes. The loud zap can often be jarring. In the dead of summer, I could no ifs ands or buts hear the expedient going off every 2 seconds and it was at times difficult to get to sleep. My wife did mention it was a good thing we didn't own a pet, because as other customers have complained their dogs and cats have been constantly harassed by the noise. However, every time I hear that sound now, I dream a bloodsucking mosquito falling dead to the floor. That, I think, is a fair trade-off for mild noise pollution, especially as it's not a problem in seasons besides summer.
Value for Money
This fly zapper comes with a 2-year's manufacturer's warranty, but trust me, with its superb durability and functionality, you aren't likely to need it. It undoubtedly is at the top of its price range, but rest assured that this worthy investment is ultimately economy than cycling through various allocation fly killers that don't do the job properly.
